Hello! I am Chris Legg, the Campus Pastor at First Baptist’s South Campus.
This is an exciting community of believers committed to the ideal that every member is a minister. The ministry of the Church is not something done TO members… but something done BY us.
We want to live out who we are as salt and light… and we would love to have you come join us anytime!
If you are looking for a home-base from which to minister and be ministered to, then we think FBC’s South Campus is a great choice.
Personally, I love the adventure of being a follower of Jesus the Christ… a few years ago a church asked me “where I would see myself in five years,” and I realized that since being an adult, I don’t think I would have answered that correctly!
As CS Lewis indicated, “He’s not a tame lion.”
I have been married to my wonderful bride, Ginger, since 1993! She is my best friend and co-minister in our family! We have 4 great kids.
Let’s see, what else would someone might want to know about me?
I am a licensed professional counselor, and I teach a lot for FBC and other ministries around Tyler (Pine Cove, MOPS, and Womenary to name a few)…
I am passionate about the role the church could be playing in the lives of families and especially men. Our society has little to offer us as fathers, sons, and husbands… so the church needs to step up, and we can!
I am also passionate about the power of hospitality, so I pray that if you ever come visit us, you will have an amazing experience of feeling like you have found a place where you belong.
God’s love for us is without limits; our devotion to one another should strive to be like it.
Now, for a little fun, we have encouraged staff members to choose a couple of a few questions and answer them… so I will play along too!
My favorite movie is “Searching For Bobby Fischer”… Zaillian’s powerful and virtually flawless movie about the way one person’s character can change the lives of everyone around him… and there is chess in it too.
My dream vacation would be a trip to Scotland (our family lineage – I love to celebrate that with a kilt, steel, and sometimes even wode!) with my family with time to rest, read, play and study.
Come visit me at my personal website anytime at www.chrismlegg.com
Or feel free to find me on facebook, too.
