Good evening, everyone! We’ve had a wonderful day on tour. We left Tyler this morning at 9:00 and traveled to Texarkana where we stopped for lunch. Personally, I regret not trying the Tyler Rose Combo #5. But then, I’m thinking that I’m better off…
After lunch, we drove on to Hot Springs. There, we sang and did ministry at the Ouachita, pronounced WOSH-i-taw, Children’s Center. This center is an emergency shelter for at risk and abused kids. That is why you don’t see any pictures of that concert and activities. The kids did a great job on their first concert, then Casey took ALL of the kids outside where we played some interactive games. Our kids worked really hard to include the residents of the center. It was a lot of fun, in spite of being HOT in Hot Springs!
After we finished at the center and boarded a cool bus with a cold bottle of water in our hand, we took a little tour of Hot Springs National Park. We drove along Bathhouse Row and saw the sites there. Following that, we at supper at McClard’s BBQ, which just happens to be my favorite BBQ spot in the state. While in office, President Clinton ordered from McClard’s regularly. In this place, its is strictly first come, first served. So, when a table comes open, you grab it. Cindy and I were waiting on a place to sit when a nice couple asked if we would share a booth with them. Mike and Nancy Curl live in Decatur, Alabama, but Mike is a Hot Springs native who is here visiting his sister. He and Nancy were out for his favorite BBQ and his birthday. They were so impressed with our kids and what we were doing that they bought dinner for Cindy and I. Mike is also a UofA grad like me…That was wonderful surprise and blessing!!!
We left Hot Springs and drove to Little Rock. We are in the hotel and everyone is in family groups. We’ll get them in bed shortly, getting rest for wonderful ministry opportunities tomorrow. Keep us in your prayers!!!
Peace and Love,
BB
