WOW! What a wonderful day!
We started at the Clinton Presidential Library. No matter your politics, it is an impressive place. Lots of history, special gifts to the President and the First Lady, and at least four saxophones were on display. The President’s daily logs are available to view. We looked to see what he was doing the day Jonathan and Nicki were born. If you are ever in Little Rock, you should take the time to visit. It is worthwhile. Also, while I was there, I sat down for just a moment and noticed the American flag through the glass. It was flying at half mast. I stopped and prayed for the folks in Orlando. It was a special moment. Are you praying for them too?
After we finished the library tour, we had boxed lunches on the library terrace. They were excellent. Have you ever had a white chocolate lemon cookie. I have. It was awe-some!
After lunch, we made our way to the State Capitol driving through downtown Little Rock to see the sights. This Capitol is every bit as beautiful as the Capitol in Texas. Bethany, our tour guide, did a great job and made it fun. We even sang “Alleluia” there. It kept on going even after we finished. The kids even went into the finance area and got to go into the vault and hold a LOT of money.
We went back to the hotel and changed into our uniforms in preparation for our evening concert. After a supper stop at a local mall, we made our way to The Dorcas House. We sang at the Dorcas House in 2008 and it was great to be there again this evening. It is a shelter for women and children. As we sang, there was the sound of children in the room and it was sweet. The kids sang their best so far. A dear friend from my youth choir days in the ’70’s, H.D. Tripp was there as well. It was great to see him!
After the concert, we cut some watermelon and shared it with the residents. We played with children, laughed, and encouraged one another…basically loving one another for the little time we had together. It was wonderful. I’m thankful for their ministry to me this evening.
Now, it’s family group time and the kids will be in bed shortly. We’re packing up in the morning and we’ll be heading to North Arkansas tomorrow night, but not before we do a little more ministry tomorrow.
Keep us in your prayers. I’m super-impressed with your kids…
Peace and love,
