/miSHen/ – noun – an important assignment to be carried out.
At FBC South, every member is a ministry. When we go to accomplish the ministry, we are on mission. The very life of a Christian, no matter where they are – home, church, homeless shelter, grocery store, foreign country - As Jesus followers, we have been given a mission:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20,ESV)
These are the words of Jesus Christ Himself – some of His very last words while He was on Earth incarnate.
That is called the great “co-mission” (our mission together).
The mission of our mission ministry (how redundant is that?) is therefore, to mobilize believers to share the Gospel of Christ through establishing and supporting missions and ministries across various frontiers… to reach out into our community – here and far away – to be a blessing to the world.
The FBC South Campus Mission Committee exists to empower the member/ministers of the church to expand the word and bear witness to Jesus Christ by sponsoring or participating in projects for those in need in the community, the state, and the world.
We send and we go.
We were able to fulfill part of our vision last year by donating to many projects which included our community, state, and foreign countries. Further, members of our church were directly involved in those! A minimum of 10% of our entire giving to FBC goes to mission ministries –those dollars are spread far and wide.
Our Goal is to have every member of First Baptist Church actively involved in mission ministry endeavors.
We send and support people around the world, including Tyler. We work hard to encourage and support our families as they listen to and obey God’s call to them as they give and/or as they go.
If you are a mission that would like to partner with us, give us a call or email. If you want to get more involved with the missions and ministries of FBC, let us know – we would love to help your family become a missional family of Christ followers!
Look for upcoming events to be announced in church or through the campus connect. If you are interested in serving in this Ministry or have any questions, please contact Chris Legg
