Kellie Hooker
Administrative Assistant to Education
I serve as the Education Ministry Assistant here at First Baptist Church Tyler. In my role, I help facilitate and carry out the vision and goals of our education and discipleship ministries.
I grew up as the child of Methodist missionary parents in the Congo, but it was through the faithful friendship of several friends, reading C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity, and studying the book of Romans that I came to personal faith in Jesus at the age of twenty-five.
My husband, Robert, grew up here in Tyler on land that has been in his family since 1858. When we retired in 2018, we renovated the old farmhouse his great-grandfather built in 1889, and it has become a special place for us to call home. I am blessed with two adult children, five wonderful grandchildren, and a grandson-in-law who fits right in.
I love reading, watching British shows on BritBox, attending the Tyler Fine Arts Council, and taking road trips with my husband or international adventures with my sister. My favorite food is Thai, and I never turn down a strong cup of freshly brewed coffee.
I love watching God draw people to faith and deepen their relationship with Him through the power of the Holy Spirit as we serve and love one another in community.
